What is the best way to put an ATV / Adventure buggy together?
Im looking to put together a stroller / ATV / sand rail adventure in Oregon at the end October and I'm curious what would be the best way to do it. Being from Texas, not sure where to start. I'm wanting more of an adrenaline rush instead of a family environment. New to the sport, so that as a group of people, but not the typical tourist trap, braver:) if camping can be integrated, even better! Thank you!
Heya Sara! Use of living in Oregon for 20 years and now lives in Nevada. I do these things all the time. If I may, let me give some ideas. Your question has a few things to consider. It sounds like you are new to the area of Oregon and currently without a lot of friends in the sport yet. Being you Texas, let me tell you about the weather here in October. It could be beautiful sunny days, without stopping the rain or snow / wind / cold. October may not be the best time to do. The West has almost the relatively stable climate of Texas. I'm not saying they do not ..... yo! =) You should know, that time we have now, probably not be the same in October. You have to pack and plan accordingly .... The first place to start, assuming you do not have a circle of friends in this matter is to find AA club is in this area. If indeed it does, I will elaborate on this later. There are numerous ATV, off-road clubs and sandrail / dunebuggy that organize events that you are looking to participate in. Do a Google search for your area. You can find a club in Madras or Pendleton that has its interests, but perhaps not one in Portland, and examples. Start looking for a club. If it does, in fact, I have friends who are in this, where you can put a band together, I would look anywhere east of the Cascades and south of I-84 to put together a travel plan. Most areas opposite these limits are quite difficult to make a "brave", unfamiliar, non-adventurous tourist trap together because of the restrictions, private property, etc. If you go to the limits I suggest you find more open space, fewer restrictions and many opportunities for activities without restrictions ATV and camping. If you are planning a trip like this, get some maps BLM Trail Regulations and verification of use, camping regulations, etc. If you have any questions, contact the field office for any field, explain what that is trying to do, and make sure it is okay to do that. Oregon, Washington and California to change its rules not only regulate, but in season. Living in Nevada, not is that, far from any point in Oregon, I would consider a trip here as well. Lots of open space, liberal regulations on the use of ATV and you can camp almost anywhere as long as no private property.
