I have a STX 98 1100 Boggs in water, but good speed in the trailer?
I'm a 98 Kawasaki 1100 STX and revolution in the trailer that sounds good, but when I put it in water, Boggs, and even turns off sometimes. I changed the spark plugs thinking that was my problem and nothing ... Any idea what might be causing this?
I hope you were trying this with water supplied, the immediate replacement of another form, an impeller pump coolant water is needed. First, out of the water and in the water are two different operating environments. Which means that when a PWC is out of the water when the engine is running, is NOT under load. Of course, an engine may sound great when not have to do any work, but when it has to work with the resistance, ie, the true test. Spark plugs are rarely ever the main things or more likely problem for most of the problems with the operation under load for marine engines. check: # 1. Are you adequately Winterize your PWC each year? (Fuel stabilizing and lasting 5 to 7 minutes, spray the engine with oil mist, water drainage of cooling system) If not, at least, stabilize the fuel or burn all the fuel from carbohydrates when trying to place the PWC for the year to pay for regular cleanings and rebuilt carb carbohydrate. # 2. Compression check. If you are the engine suffered significant loss of lubrication or overheating is significant damage, compression reduces drastically. If the damage is sufficiently important happens, the engine can be completely ruined. A service manual for the year of your PWC and the model will contain information compression on the readings and recommendations. # 3. Tickets for the accumulation of carbohydrates. Only one way to safely clean a 2-carb stages: dismantling, clean the carburetor with cleaner, wipe everything clean and dry overnight, then reassemble. # 4. Spark test. You may have to individually test each spark plug wire spark sufficient to ensure that is happening at higher revs. They make a tool available at auto parts stores. In general, the purchase of a service manual for your year and model PWC troubleshooting these problems will cause a lot less guesswork.
