Surfboard Riding & Equipment Tips : Wet Suit Surf Rash

any Internet user to recommend a tip for a beginner?

I want to take recreational surfing, anything competitive, but just for fun and I live near the beach. im 5'11 "and weighs 135 pounds, so I get a card for long or short board? I have sailed before but only on a table large foam that are easy to balance. also, should I invest in a wetsuit, or just get a rash guard? MI will be used only in summer and perhaps September and the water temperature where I live is generally low in the mid-sixties in the summer also, any good website to buy surfboards used to know? thanks!
